Ha! Ruth Madoff is wearing my hat: http://ping.fm/3KxGO (not a photoshop)
I’m leaving New Zealand in two days. Starting to pack after a pancake breakfast.
Seeing the All Blacks vs. Italy tonight in Christchurch
Just finished watching Doctor Who series 3 (2007), now to acquire series 4. Oy this burns bandwidth.
Whoa, whoa, wait? Michael Jackson is dead?!
Mulling cider
Today does not feel like winter at all.
Let’s just forget that exam and be happy that I’m done!
Off to sit my last exam at the University of Canterbury

Pretty Boy spent nights at Mikey’s Pet Shop, where memorials have been constructed to honor the cat.More Photos >
Skiing was a great success. Mt Hutt is beautifully located. It’s the first time I’ve skied within sight of the sea.
On the way to Mt Hutt to ski
I wish I was home for one summer for the Philly Folk Festival. Listening online to a sample of the artists this year.
Playing backgammon online. Anyone know of a better service than Yahoo Games?
Postcards gone already, sorry folks.
I have two really crappy postcards but no one who I want to send them to. The first two to claim one will get a crappy postcard from NZ.
Writing postcards I collected during travel here that I still have left.
Only one final to go!

I just realized that the pretzels I buy here are imported from Hanover, PA. Wow that’s weird. But Hanover does produce great snacks.

Mountains on the left, the Pacific on the right
The coastal train from Christchurch to Picton, where I then caught a ferry to Wellington, is quite scenic. Mountains rise up on the left quite quickly and the Pacific is on the right. I took these two (pretty shoddy) videos from the open-air viewing carriage.
Dinner tonight was very good souvlaki at Dimitri’s in downtown Christchurch. Some of the best food I’ve had in NZ.
Back in Christchurch after a really fun long weekend in Wellington
Off to Wellington by train and ferry!
Off to see Warren Miller’s Childran of Winter on the big screen!
Mmm. You know what time it is? It’s whiskey sour time.
w00t! Turning in my last paper.
I just realized that the water here tastes like the water at my grandmother’s house in Berwyn.
Two classes down, two to go. Just finishing this paper this morning and then two finals in the coming weeks.
Made great progress on this pollen/palaeoecology paper, but it’ll have to wait until tomorrow now. Time to study for my exam in 8.5 hours.
I’m making a deal with myself: I get to go make dinner when I finish the introduction and background of this paper.
Just had my last class at Canterbury.
Arg! Net is out. How am I supposed to win this auction now?
